Spreading the Wealth w/ Indie Brands

If you’re anything like me, your heart sank a little the day Amazon bought out Whole Foods. It happens all the time: Nestle gobbles up supplement companies and hides in the background collecting the profits. One that comes to mind is Pure Encapsulations – purchased by Nestle in 2021. We believe the products are still the same, but there’s a risk of tampering with original formulas or offerings because shareholders are thinking about the bottom line first.

If you’re a small business owner like me, or just like rooting for the little guy, then it’s nice to see offerings out there that provide an organic/clean product, but with a better sense of purpose, stewardship and connection.

The Cornucopia Institute is an organization that vets and shares the smaller “Indie” Organic Brands with a sense of duty to the environment and humanity. Some of the brands I recognize are MiYOKO’S, MAPLE HILL organic, Organic Valley, Dr. Bronner’s, Café Mam, and Mountain Rose Herbs. But there are much more that deserve a look. Check out the list here and filter based on your needs.

And of course, if you like what they’re doing, they’re a non-profit accepting donations. Visit there website here to partner with them.
